T-shirts for Photographers

posted by Brad on May 12, 2009 in T-shirts
40/60 PhotoI've been really getting into photography lately. I recently purchased a Digital Rebel and it's awesome. There's so much more I need to learn though.

The guys over 40/60 Photography, however, look like they've got this fine art down pretty well. They (Sean, Conor, and Chris) all take really wonderful photos.

Both Conor and Chris work for a company called AKT Enterprises which is a merchandising, graphic design, and web design firm based in Flordia, so it's only natural they come up with some cool tees. And that they did.

They recently put up for presale five pretty nice looking shirts. They are all specially priced at $15 for the presale with an estimated June 15th ship date. All of them are printed on American Apparel and come in sizes X-Small - X-Large.

Fixed Some Problems / Taco Dino Extinction

posted by Brad on April 28, 2009 in T-shirts
Apparently, during the big site move, the mod_rewrite rules for the site got lost. As a result, a lot of the links around the site weren't working. And I just discovered that a few minutes ago. It's fixed though.

In other news, if you've been holding out on getting one of SEIBEI's Taco Dinosaur shirts, I suggest you get to it. They'll be extinct on May 5th. GET TO IT!

New Server

posted by Brad on April 26, 2009 in updates
Indie Threads has changed hosts and we're on a new server now. Everything seems to be working fine for me, but if you happen across a bug please let me know and I'll try to fix it.

In other news, I'm getting married in Vermont in twenty-some-odd days, so I haven't had a whole lot of time to work on the new site. Once I get back and wedding stuff settles down I should be able to get back to work on it though. I haven't forgotten.

Indie Threads Is Coming Back To Life

posted by Brad on February 26, 2009 in updates
New Indie ThreadsYeah, I know... I've said it before. Indie Threads is going to come back to life. For that past week or two I've been working on it and it's finally going to happen. I'm almost done, actually.

Instead of re-coding everything from the ground up myself (what I was doing), I'm using a system called BuddyPress. It's pretty cool. It's built off of Wordpress which, I've got to tell you, puts this crappy blog system I've built to shame. So far, I'm really happy with the features that are built in.

There are going to be some problems porting everything from this system to that though. For one, user avatars won't be making it, but considering the site has been dead for a little more than a year, I'm assuming that everyone's avatars would be different anyway. Another problem that I might try and fix is the friendships. I'm not sure if I can keep all the info when I merge everything. Because of that, you might have to go on a friend requesting frenzy when the site re-launches. And, the last problem that I'm noticing is that photo galleries aren't included with BuddyPress yet. So, there might not be any photos for users for a little while. I am going to try and implement Flickr though, so it might not be too horrible of a situation. I'm also planning on implementing Twitter for your profiles.

Speaking of Twitter, you can follow Indie Threads and keep up to date on what's going on with stuff. Just start following indiethreads.

SEIBEI Releases Spring 2009 Line

posted by Brad on February 25, 2009 in T-shirts
Seibei Releases Spring 2009 LineDavid Murray has released the Spring 2009 Line of his SEIBEI brand. We have a very highly anticipated (at least for me) shirt and some new ones he's been teasing us with the past couple of months through his twitter account. This will be his last line released while doing SEIBEI part time.

First up, we have the Taco Dinosaur ($21). David drew this up a couple of years ago as a goof on his classic Sandwich Dino and people have been trying to get him to print it ever since. He's got the shirt up as a limited edition right. I hope I can snag one of these before they're all gone.

Next, we have Best Friends Forever ($22). This is one of those shirts he's been teasing us with. It's a conjoined twin monster that's eating a Rocket Pop. I'm a really big fan of the shading in the artwork. Compare this with some of SEIBEI's earlier stuff and tell me David hasn't grown a ton as an artist.

Next, we have I'll Never Stop Pooping ($22). A dog pooping a rainbow. This shirt is a different step for SEIBEI. The main art was done by Jimmy Heartcore but the text was done by David. I think it's only the second black t-shirt he's put out too.

Here, we have Stay Strong ($22). A weird looking monster jumping rope. To me, this guy looks like a blue cheerio on steroids or something. This is classic SEIBEI. Bright colors, monsters, and just plain goofy.

Finally, we have La Mutant Rouge ($21). A little plainer than his usual designs but I still dig it. It's also the shirt that Jr. Birdman is wearing.

Overall, this is a very solid release. You all should go and buy one of each, so when David "goes pro" in about a week he'll be able to feed himself.

New Releases from Artefacture

guest-posted by Michael on September 29, 2008 in T-shirts
I've written about the brother and brother team of Artefacture before and they've gotten better ever since. Artefacture creates t-shirts with simple yet powerful designs like "Form Matters", and "Design Elevates Experience".

Artefacture's shirts are screened on standard American Apparel t-shirts and their own custom SuperLux tee which "increases durability (fabric has more memory) and increases resistance to shrinkage". These fine garments are going to run you $28 and $5 for shipping, and another $5 if you're international.

What happened to that Indie Threads site, anyway?

posted by Brad on August 6, 2008 in updates
So, we kind of fell off the map, eh?

Not for much longer though. I'm working only one job again and I'm tinkering with Indie Threads related things again. Mainly overhauling the entire site. I'm re-coding everything from scratch. Making it look tons better (different from the previous post, by the way). I'm also working on adding completely new features. I'm keeping that one up my sleeve for awhile though because it's still just in it's idea stages.

One of the things I'm trying to do with Indie Threads 3.0 is take the focus off the blog (because you see how much it's getting updated) and put it more on the community. I want people to come here and find new friends and contacts. There are a ton of t-shirt blogs if you need your fix. I'm going to re-do the forums all together and integrate them into the site instead of the way it is now.

It's just going to be all around better. I'll update with more info as things progress so keep checking back.

Proof it's not dead...

An explanation for the entire lack of communication

posted by Brad on February 11, 2008 in updates
So, I've got bills. In order to pay these bills, I have to make the monies.

I have two jobs and I'm working around 50 hours a week right now. Not a whole lot of time to be doing internet things. The bad thing is, I don't like one of my jobs at all.

Another interesting fact: My car completely died.

So, yeah. Life is pretty tough at the moment but hopefully things start looking up.

If you are itching to talk about t-shirts, let me know and I'll set you up to blog here if you want.
